Beatrice Kambalametole who has worked for NICO General Company as Regional Manager for Central and Northern regions was sent off in style at a cocktail reception in Lilongwe after her retirement. Kambalametole, who has worked for NICO General Insurance for 29 years, said she enjoyed her work so much, attributing her long service to perseverance.

According to Kambalametole, it was not easy for her to rise to managerial position as a lady in her times as she had to live up to standards. "It wasn't easy for ladies to penetrate into managerial positions in my time but now ladies are given equal opportunities with men when it comes to employment," said Kambalametole.

She joined NICO General Insurance in 1979 and has worked for NICO ever since except for once when she was attached to a certain company in the United Kingdom before she joined NICO. NICO General Insurance General Manager Eric Chapola said Kambalametole has been hard working and tremendously developed Central and Northern regions. "She has been behind growth of NICO General's business in Mzuzu and Lilongwe. In fact, it has been growing 100 percent every year for the last seven years," said Chapola.

According to him, Kambalametole has also been responsible for staff development in Lilongwe and Mzuzu so much that the one who is heading Mzuzu office now learned from her. He also added that NICO General is presently the biggest insurance company in the country. "We take 43 percent share on the market," said Chapola.
