LONG SERVICE STAFF AWARDS

NICO General has accorded special recognition to long serving staff in the country at a function held at the headquarters in NICO House in Blantyre Friday, 9th May 2008 as a way of motivating hard working staff. The leading insurance and Investments company has since asked all staff members to continue being dedicated to serving the company because that is the sure way to register more successes.

Speaking during the function, guest speaker Chris Kapanga of NICO Holdings, said he was overwhelmed with experiences the long service staff members were narrating. He also said he was impressed with NICO General’s desire to keep staff members happy all the time.

“I am impressed with the narrations from the long serving members. We are indebted to such a spirit of dedication, it has not been easy.  Like I have heard from them, some members left, but these people stayed, it is a motivation to other staff members,” he said.

Four staff members were awarded with gifts of K60, 000 for 15 years service, three were given K100, 000 sums for clocking 25 years while one retired member Dan Y Phiri was recognized with many assorted gifts for working at the company for 29 years.

In his speech Phiri said he joined the company when it was called National Insurance Company. It was one company during that time before it split into many subsidiaries and changed into NICO. He said during the old years there were only two professional insurers making a mention of Managing Director Stain Singo and Mlusu, total postings were K100 million.

“Today the company has over nine chartered insurers, and K2.5billion worth of insurance,” he said.

He also commended management for splitting the company into NICO Holdings, NICO General, NICO Life and NICO Technologies; he said this has enhanced performance.

 After the speeches there was a mini party in celebration of the awarding of the outstanding and model employees. Currently, NICO is the largest property holder in the country and according to official statement, its set to introduce new products in insurance services.
